You can take steps to help protect
                                               yourself from dementia.

WHEN YOU GET older, it’s normal for you to forget a few
things here and there. You might forget where you put
your glasses. You may even blank on the name of someone
                                        you’ve known for years.

However, when memory problems start to affect your
everyday life, they may be signs of dementia. Dementia
is a syndrome that affects all parts of your life. It can
cause issues with your memory, personality and ability
                                        to speak.

“The first signs of dementia can be small,” says Richard
Ackermann, MD, Director of the Division of Geriatrics
at Navicent Health. “For example, you may have trouble
managing your finances, shopping or driving.”

                                       UNDERSTANDING DEMENTIA

Dementia is a progressive disease, meaning it gets worse
as time goes on. As it progresses, dementia
